Currently in the inner city of Calgary there is a large demand for new Infill homes. An Infill is any home that has be built on a lot where an existing home was located before. Typically the builders take a 50 foot lot and split it into 2 x 25 foot lots where they can build 2 or more high end homes where on used to sit before. Unfortunately, there is much more demand than there is supply at the moment. This has resulted in builders actively pursuing the purchase of homes that they believe to be good candidates for demolition and re-building.
If you are approached by a builder or investor to sell your home, there are some important factors to consider:
-
Will the builder give you fair market value? The builder will try to get your home as cheaply as possible in order to maximize their profit when they sell later. This only makes sense
-
You have the right to be represented by an agent when you sell your home, no matter who you
are selling to. Be wary of the builder that recommends you do a private transaction or who does not like dealing with REALTORs. -

-
